Return to School 2024/2025

The First Day of School is Thursday September 5, 2024.

Our school schedule is  8:20am-2:40pm.

Morning Drop Off is at 8:20am.  Afternoon dismissal is staggered -  Kindergarten at 2:25pm,  Grade 1 at 2:30, Grade 2-5 at 2:35pm.

Please make every effort to be on time in the morning and when picking up your child in the afternoon. 

Students will enter at and be dismissed from the following doors by grade:  

Kindergarten - front door at 211 72nd (dismissed to Large School Yard) 

1st Grade - large yard/double doors closest to 71st Street

2nd Grade - bridge door in large yard

3rd Grade - stairs on 71st Street

4th Grade - small yard on Ridge Blvd.

5th Grade - double doors on Ridge Blvd. (close to 72nd St.)

Our school breakfast program will begin 9/5/24. The door in the large yard is open from 7:45am-8:00am and children will be served breakfast in the cafeteria and remain there under supervision until they can go to their classrooms at 8:20am.  There is no entry to the building between 8:00am and 8:20am.  Children who arrive after 8:20am who want breakfast can take a bag breakfast in the main lobby to their classroom to eat. 

LUNCH SCHEDULE: 

Your children will eat lunch in the cafeteria during the following periods.  You may choose for your child to be served School Food's FREE Hot Lunch or you may send a packed lunch from home.  Please mark lunch boxes and water bottles with your child's name. 

The application period was open from May 20-June 10, 2024.  Families will be notified whether their child will be in the program this year or placed on the waitlist by letter on September 5 & 6, 2024.  The program start date should be 9/16/24 - any change in that date will be noted here by 9/3/24.

Please complete your Family Income Inquiry Form online today at myschoolapps.com.  Our school is listed as 20K102. This form is used across the state to determine if your child qualifies for free or reduced price lunch. In the last several years, all NYC DOE schools have qualified for universal free lunch.  The form is also used to determine Federal Title I funding.  We did not qualify for the Title I funding for the 2024/2025 school year.  Completion of this form determines our funding for the 2025/2026 school year. 

You only need to complete one form per family for all children in NYC Public Schools. We ask for 100% of our families to complete the form so that we have a chance to qualify for next year. It is almost one million dollars in funding.  Please include all financial information and add all family members living in the household.  If you have a high income and are sure you would not qualify - please complete the form anyway - you have an option to check off that you do not qualify/will not be providing financial information.  If you are receiving food stamps or state benefits you do not need to complete the form.  If you have any questions on this form, please contact Ms. Sheri at melliotsheri@schools.nyc.gov. Below is a list of supplies that will be needed for Kindergarten. Please send these supplies in with your child during the week of September 9th , 2024.

We encourage you to send in a few supplies at a time since the students have to carry them into the school building. Thank you in advance for your help!

First Grade Supply List 2024/2025

Welcome to First Grade!

In order to ensure a productive school year and to enhance your child’s learning, we are requesting that your child bring in the following supplies.
All notebooks, folders, crayons, paints, and pencil cases should be labeled with their name. Please avoid sending in all supplies on the first day of school.
Below you will find a suggested schedule to ensure a smoother transition in the first few days.

Thursday Sept. 5th
• 1 Marble notebook (Primary notebooks preferred)
• 6 plastic folders (Solid colors only: red, orange, yellow, green, blue, purple)
• 1 box of crayons (24 count) (please tape the bottom of the crayon box)
• 3 large glue sticks **
• 1 soft pencil case with pencils and 1 large eraser, 1 scissor (this should be brought to school daily)

Friday Sept. 6th
• 2 large packages of sharpened pencils **
• 1 box of tissues **
• 1 container of baby wipes **
• 1 bottle of Hand sanitizer Monday Sept. 9 th
• 1 roll of paper towels **
• 2 pack of disinfectant wipes (Lysol, Clorox, etc) **
• 1 pack of dry erase markers
• 1 small eraser for dry erase board
• 1 pack of highlighters Tuesday Sept. 10th
• 1 watercolor paint set (16 or 24 ct. recommended)
• 1 box of Ziploc bags (Gallon size)
• 1 pack of colored pencils

Items with ** run out quickly and any donations would be greatly appreciated.

Any donations of white computer paper or card stock would be greatly appreciated as well but are not required.
