  • Kids Heart Challenge

    Hello PS 102 Families,

Happy "Heart Healthy Month"! Once again, our school is proud to partner with the
American Heart Association for our annual Kids Heart Challenge.
We will be kicking off our event February 10th-February 14th in all of our
Physical Education classes. In the weeks to follow, our students will have fun
jumping rope while learning about their heart and raising money to help fund
lifesaving research. Last year our school raised close to $5,000. This year we're
looking to crush that goal by raising at least $8,000! In addition to spreading
heart health awareness, our school has the chance to earn free equipment for our
    Physical Education program, double bonus!

Students can earn their own "Let the Games Begin" characters by downloading
the Kids Heart Challenge mobile app or by going to heart.org/KHC and searching
for our school: PS 102. All students will have the opportunity to participate in the
event, so no need to return the consent form on the back of the collection
    envelope.

The final deadline for money collection is Friday. March 21t. Donations can be
collected electronically via the app or website (strongly suggested) or you may
send in your checks/money orders using the Kids Heart Challenge collection
envelope. If you choose to send in the envelope, please be sure your child's name,
class and amount raised are written clearly. Checks and money orders should be
payable to the American Heart Association. Though appreciated, CASH WILL
    NOT BE ACCEPTED!

Thank you in advance for your support. If you have any questions please feel free
to contact us. Get ready, get set, LETS JUMP!

    Sincerely,
    Ms. Lurie and Mr. Mailman

  • Complete the PS 102 School Leadership Team Survey

    Dear Parents and Families,

The School Leadership Team (SLT) is a group of parents and staff members who develop educational policies for our school. They also make sure there are resources to support those policies. The SLT provides ongoing evaluation of our school’s programs and their impact on student achievement, plays an important role in school-based decision-making, and helps to make our school cultures more collaborative.
The Parent Teacher Association (PTA) is comprised of parents and teachers. The PTA advocates for students and families. Its role includes updating parents and families about the school and planning and running activities for parents and families. The PTA also supports our school in a number of ways, including organizing activities for families—both academic and social. raising funds and running volunteer events.
We would appreciate your feedback regarding your comfort reaching out to these two groups. Please complete this 3 question survey as soon as possible.
    Thank you in advance,
The PS 102 School Leadership Team

  • NYC Drought Warning

On November 18, Mayor Eric Adams issued a drought warning for New York City. All New Yorkers are encouraged to conserve water. Based on Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) guidance, we encourage families and staff to adopt water-saving habits, emphasizing reducing water use as a shared responsibility:

    • Report open fire hydrants and street leaks to 311.

    • Limit unnecessary flushing, as toilets account for a major portion of water use.

    • Reduce shower times.

    • Turn off faucets: Avoid running water while brushing teeth or washing hands.

    • Fix leaks promptly: Report and repair any dripping faucets or running toilets.

    • Run dishwashers and washing machines only when full.

    • Ask custodial teams to use brooms to clean sidewalks and driveways where possible.

Additional tips for reducing water use can be found at nyc.gov/savewater.
