REGISTRATION FOR 2025-2026
KINDERGARTEN REGISTRATION FOR FALL 2025:
MySchools will release offers to families on Wednesday April 2, 2025. Families must accept their offer by May 2, 2025 using the MySchools portal.
Appointments for in person registration will begin on Thursday, May 1, 2025.
If your child is offered a seat to our kindergarten class for the fall of 2025 you will be notified by MySchools. Please follow the steps below to complete the registration process:
1. Accept or decline your child's offer using the MySchools portal.
2. Once you accept, please call PS 102 at (718) 748-7404 on or after Wednesday, April 9, 2025 to schedule an appointment to complete registration.
Note: Registration will be held in person via appointment Monday-Friday 8:45am-11:15am. Appointments are approximately 10-15 minutes. Please try your best to have your child with you.
3. After scheduling an appointment, all the required forms and documents will be sent to you via e-mail. You may also find them below in your preferred language. Packets are also available in the main lobby of the school.
4. Forms are to be filled out, completed, and brought with you on your scheduled appointment time and date.
Registration for Grades 1-5 for September 2025 will be open from June 1 - June 16, 2025. Registration will close for the summer after June 16th and resume in September. Please contact the main office to schedule an appointment.

Grade 5 Student Device Collection Schedule
Dear Grade 5 Students and Parents/Guardians,As we approach the end of the academic year, this is an important reminder that students must return any NYCPS issued educational technology devices (iPads, laptops, etc.) to P.S. 102We will collect devices and all supporting accessories including keyboards, cases, power cords, etc. on the date indicated on schedule below. Middle School Offers and Virtual Middle School Admissions Event
Dear Families,We encourage you to attend one of the NYC DOE's Virtual Middle School Admissions Events in April. Please see the attached flyer for dates, times, and information in different languages.Online Virtual Events will cover:- How families can view their child's middle school offer.
- How to add their child to the waitlist and understand how waitlist offers are made.
If you are unable to attend any of the virtual sessions, here is some information to support Middle School Offers:Offer Release Day:- On April 9, middle school offers will be available in MySchools after school hours.
- The Office of School Enrollment will email families after school hours to inform them that results are available in MySchools.
Information Included in Offers:- One offer to a middle school.
- An offer to a program listed on the student's application, or an offer to a program with seat availability.
- Score reports for students who applied to Screened Audition, Talent Test, and Screened with Assessment Programs.
- A list of middle schools where students have been waitlisted. Students are automatically on the waitlist of any school listed higher on their application than the school where they received an offer.
Understanding Waitlists:- Families must check the MySchools parent portal to see their child's position on the waitlist for any school in real time.
- Students are automatically on waitlists at programs listed higher than their offer.
- The decision on when the waitlist will close this year is still pending. OSE will notify families as soon as a decision is made.
- Families can add/remove themselves to/from waitlists in MySchools.
- Families should reach out to middle schools directly for information regarding seat availability.
- Each middle school manages its own waitlist and may decide when to make an offer.
- Middle schools will make waitlist offers to students in the order they are listed on the waitlist. Students may move up or down on a school's waitlist over time.
- If seats become available, middle schools will make offers directly to families.
- Families have 7 calendar days to respond to a waitlist offer:
- If a family accepts a waitlist offer, it replaces their current offer.
- If a family declines a waitlist offer, they will keep their current offer.
- If a family does not respond to a waitlist offer, they will keep their current offer and may not be able to accept the offer in the future.
- Families should respond to a waitlist offer in the Parent Portal of MySchools.
Reasons for a student to opt-out of their offer:- The student is leaving the NYC Public School system.
- The student has an offer to attend a private, parochial, or charter school.
- Documentation will need to be provided to the school if a student opts out. Documentation could include an offer letter from another school.

Dear Families and Staff:
This is a follow up to a letter informing you that your school’s water outlets would be tested for lead
in 2023.On September 27, 2023, all operational sources of water at P.S. 102 - Brooklyn (P.S. 102 The
Bayview at 211 72 Street Brooklyn, NY 11209), including for drinking or cooking, were tested for
the presence of lead. The laboratory results showed elevated levels of lead in 5 of the 74 samples
outlets from which water was taken and tested. Any drinking or cooking outlet with elevated levels
was immediately taken out of service, and will remain out of service until it is successfully
remediated. Details of elevated results are attached and complete test results are posted on the
DOE website at https://www.schools.nyc.gov/schools/K102. Click “Reports” and look for the
“Facilities” heading.The test results include water outlets that are not used for drinking or cooking, including
handwashing sinks. Sinks will have clear signs indicating “Hand Washing Only” and “Not for
Drinking Use.” The custodial staff will continue to flush the P.S. 102 - Brooklyn water systems on
Monday mornings and after holidays to eliminate stagnant water. This is part of our comprehensive
protocol to ensure safe drinking water for students and staff in each and every school. To learn

Safe and healthy school environments can foster healthy and successful children. To protect public health, the Public
Health Law and New York State Health Department (NYSDOH) regulations require that all public schools and boards of
cooperative educational services (BOCES) test lead levels in water from every outlet that is being used, or could
potentially be used, for drinking or cooking. If lead is found at any water outlet at levels equal to or above 5 parts per
billion (ppb), which is equal to 5 micrograms per liter (µg/L), the NYSDOH requires that the school take action to reduce
lead exceedance.

NYC Drought Warning
On November 18, Mayor Eric Adams issued a drought warning for New York City. All New Yorkers are encouraged to conserve water. Based on Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) guidance, we encourage families and staff to adopt water-saving habits, emphasizing reducing water use as a shared responsibility:

Report open fire hydrants and street leaks to 311.

Limit unnecessary flushing, as toilets account for a major portion of water use.

Reduce shower times.

Turn off faucets: Avoid running water while brushing teeth or washing hands.

Fix leaks promptly: Report and repair any dripping faucets or running toilets.

Run dishwashers and washing machines only when full.

Ask custodial teams to use brooms to clean sidewalks and driveways where possible.

June Is Full of Learning
Dear Families,
Our schools are simply better with your children present—and we're not done yet! School is in session through Thursday, June 26, 2025, and every day still holds meaningful learning, joyful celebrations, and unforgettable memories.
June is a special time of year. Students are wrapping up important learning, connecting with friends and teachers, and getting ready for exciting transitions. Our incredible staff is here each day to support, celebrate, and guide them through these final days. We want every student to finish strong!
Every day counts. Research shows that preschoolers who regularly attend early childhood education programs are five times less likely to be chronically absent by second grade. From Kindergarten on, strong attendance habits support reading at grade level, long-term academic success, and ultimately high school graduation. The habits we build now open doors for the future.
Even with summer heat on the way, our schools are keeping cool—literally and figuratively! Our schools are a great place to be!
- Our classrooms are ready for warmer weather with air conditioning to keep learning comfortable.
- Spirit Weeks are in full swing, bringing fun, energy, and community to our schools.
- There's still so much to experience—don’t miss these final days of learning and laughter!
